For decades, the only way to straighten teeth was with traditional braces, but Invisalign now offers a completely new approach to orthodontic treatment. Instead of using brackets and wires to push and pull teeth into place, Invisalign uses clear, comfortable aligners that gently move your teeth into their ideal positions. Doctors Lake Family Dental is a Certified Invisalign Provider, with years of experience helping patients achieve beautiful new smiles with the help of clear aligners.

The Benefits of Invisalign

More and more adults and teens are choosing Invisalign over conventional braces. Some of the advantages of Invisalign include:

  • Comfort – Metal braces can irritate the soft tissues of the mouth, but Invisalign aligners are made with thin, smooth plastic that fits flush against your teeth.
  • Convenience – Invisalign doesn’t require any changes to your lifestyle. You can continue to eat your favorite foods and there’s no additional time needed for brushing and flossing because your aligners can be taken out.
  • Predictability – We carefully plan the movements of each individual tooth with Invisalign, which yields more predictable results. You can even see a preview of what your smile will look like after treatment during your consultation!
  • They’re Invisible! – Yes, we can’t forget to mention that Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible—it’s one of the most common reasons adults and teens choose this system! Coworkers, classmates, and friends won’t even realize you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment.

The Invisalign Process

Your Invisalign treatment begins with a complimentary consultation, in which we’ll examine your teeth and jaw, go over your dental history, and discuss whether Invisalign is right for you. If you decide to move forward with treatment, we’ll take photos and digital impressions of your smile, which enables us to create a 3D model on our computer. This is used by your dentist to plan out your treatment. These plans are sent to Invisalign, where your custom aligners are fabricated.

You’ll wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, or as directed, and then switch to a new set of aligners right at home. With every new set, you’re a little bit closer to your beautiful new smile! We ask that you follow up with us every six weeks so we can make sure your treatment is on the right track. After you’ve finished with your last set of aligners, you’ll be given custom retainers to help maintain your results.

Frequently Asked Questions About Invisalign

Is Invisalign cheaper than braces?

The price of Invisalign depends on your unique needs, but in most cases, Invisalign is less expensive than clear (ceramic) braces and lingual braces, but comparable to or slightly more than traditional metal braces.

Can your teeth move back after Invisalign?

Your teeth can move back after any orthodontic treatment, including Invisalign. Wearing your retainers as directed will prevent this from happening.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Invisalign treatment usually averages between nine and 15 months, but this depends upon the amount of correction needed.

Does insurance cover Invisalign?

If your dental insurance covers orthodontic treatment, it’s likely that it will cover Invisalign, but every plan is different, so you’ll need to check with your insurance company to be sure. Our team is happy to help you understand your benefits and provide you with an estimate of your out-of-pocket costs.
